Hypertrophy of the prostate

Hypertrophy of the prostate is usually observed in men of mature age. Specialists tend to associate the occurrence of the disease with hormonal failures in the body. The phenomenon causes unnatural benign enlargement of the main male organ. While the rectal examination of iron remains smooth and dense.

The dangers of hypertrophy of the prostate

The proliferation of the gland puts pressure on the urethra, gradually turning it into a narrow slit. In some cases, it is possible to germinate the gland in the bladder, which certainly leads to its constant irritation. Among the possible variants of unpleasant changes in the body there is the possibility of complete overlap of the urinary duct.

Changes make the withdrawal of urine problematic. The bladder is not completely emptied, as a result, it stagnates. Stagnant urine is dangerous by the development of inflammatory processes, the gradual poisoning of the body with dangerous substances that do not have the opportunity to leave the body.

Causes of the disease

Specialists can not say with certainty that hypertrophy occurs as a result of aging of the body. About 60% of the male population aged over 50 years is affected by this disease. The main culprit of metamorphosis is considered to be the concentration of male hormones. With age, it changes, provoking the formation of a benign tumor. Hypertrophy can be a separate disease or symptom of another disease. Lead to an increase in the body can:

  • inflammatory processes of the genitourinary system;
  • is a sexually transmitted infection;
  • atherosclerosis;
  • oncological diseases;
  • prostatitis( source);
  • hormonal imbalance.

Symptoms of the disease

The first signal of a disorder occurring in internal systems is frequent urination. Hypertrophy of the prostate has a continuous pressure on the bladder. The first stage of the disease only causes the patient to urinate more often. Gradually, this symptom is joined by the painfulness of the process. In the following stages, the growth of the gland becomes the reason for the inability to immediately urinate.

Absence of treatment leads to a gradual loss of bladder tone and stretching of the urethra. Finding out what it is, it is necessary to take into account the irreversibility of each of the processes. The further they enter, the higher the likelihood of developing an inflammatory process in the ureter, prostate, bladder. The process can be accompanied by an increase in body temperature, a pronounced pain syndrome in the groin or lower abdomen. If the disease has time to start its destructive effect on the kidneys, then there may be pain in the back.

Complaints of a man for unpleasant symptoms require a urologist to conduct a thorough examination. Hypertrophy of the prostate gland at the initial stage has similar symptoms with prostate adenoma and cancer. For effective and safe treatment it is important to correctly diagnose. The expert draws a conclusion on the basis of the data of several methods of examination.

Primary and mandatory is the rectal examination of the gland. The doctor not only checks its dimensions, but also the general condition( soreness, friability).With this disease, the groove gradually disappears, which is also established by rectal examination.

Further the expert writes out a direction in laboratory for blood research on revealing the level of specific prostatic antigen in the blood and ultrasound.

Ultrasound examination can be performed in a classical way or replaced with a rectal one. Its purpose is to determine the size of the prostate gland, the degree of its impact on the bladder.

Treatment of

Only the surgical procedure can completely get rid of the disease - prostatectomy. Many patients prefer not to give consent to the operation, choosing medication. It is important to take into account the age of the patient. The disease affects already elderly men, who find it difficult to transfer the operation without serious consequences.

If it is impossible to perform the operation, it is necessary to ensure the outflow of urine, excluding infection of the epididymis and urinary tract. The catheter is installed at least once a day. When the urine is completely delayed, a permanent flexible catheter is inserted, which is removed after 3 days. This method usually allows you to restore natural urination.

A permanent catheter is administered throughout the month to patients experiencing chronic urination problems. During the treatment by catheterization, it is possible to achieve a decrease in the volume of residual urine and restore normal urination. In this case, the main role is played by the preservation of the muscles of the bladder of its tone.

Patients in the initial stages of the disease intramuscularly injected synestrol up to 5 ml daily. The course of treatment consists of several approaches, each of which can last up to 3 months. The break between them should not be less than 3 months. Treatment continues until the attending physician establishes a reduction in the prostate.

Treatment of prostatic hypertrophy in the presence of complications

At the slightest suspicion of developing a patient with urinary tract infections, he is immediately prescribed a weekly course of urotopine with a dosage of 1.5 g per day or norsulfazole with a dosage of up to 4 grams per day. Simultaneously, sintomycin and urosulfan are administered at a dosage of up to 2 g per day for 10 days and intramuscular injections of penicillin. If the disease is accompanied by cystitis, the residual urine from the bladder is washed out with solutions:

  • of potassium permanganate,
  • of okyanininistoy mercury,
  • of boric acid.

Pielonephritis and pyelitis require treatment with penicillin, urosulfan, sintomycin. The correct combination of drugs and their dosage allows you to quickly suppress the activity of the causative agent of the infection and neutralize it. If the call to the doctor has already occurred in case of neglect, it may be necessary to perform an operation with the superficial urine overlapping the vesicle fistula.

Proper nutrition

The patient will have to give up fried food, impose restrictions on meat products. Under the ban must be caught sharp and salty foods, alcohol. It is necessary to pay attention to the work of the intestine. Constipation or diarrhea will play a cruel joke with the patient, causing harm not less than hypothermia or sexual excesses.
