What is important to remember before starting to practice:

  • gymnastics is usually performed only during the period of remission of the disease, when the symptoms of the disease - such as pain and inflammation in the joint - are minimal or absent. Performing therapeutic exercises at other times, you not only can get yourself unnecessary pain, but also can contribute to worsening of the condition of knee joints.
  • before performing any exercises, including those found on our site, be sure to consult your doctor. It is possible that some movements from the treatment complex are not shown to you, or at the present time at their current stage of treatment, their performance can be harmful. When using any exercises, you must first get "good" from the doctor-arthrologist or instructor LFK!
  • any therapeutic gymnastics for joints with osteoarthritis is necessary in order, on the one hand, to load the muscles and ligaments in the area of the affected joints, and on the other - do not overload the joints themselves. If the complex of exercises that you use are given too much strain on the joints, we strongly recommend that you stop using them and be sure to consult with your doctor!
  • in the correct complex of therapeutic gymnastics for knee osteoarthritis, static loads should predominate over dynamic ones. Static load - this is when in exercises you need to stop at some point( for example, when lifting a leg) and stay in this position for a few seconds. Thanks to such static exercises, the muscles get the load necessary to strengthen them, and the joints themselves do not wear out, because with such exercises the movements in them are minimal.
  • LFK for joints is the only method of treatment that does not require you to have money, medicine, or any expensive equipment. Therefore, be patient and have willpower, and do all the exercises regularly and in full.

Useful advices:

1. In order for gymnastics to be of use, it is necessary to perform therapeutic exercises regularly, every day.

2. Try to avoid movements that give too much strain on the knees, and also on the hands. As already mentioned above, the essence of the right exercises is to strengthen the muscles, but do not burden the joints.

3. Try to make the legs relax completely between exercises. For this it is most convenient to lie down.

4. At least once a day, complete the performance of therapeutic exercises with a small foot massage - at least for five minutes. To do this, easily walk your fingers along the hips and legs, stroking and lightly massaging them. You should avoid too much pressure and kneading muscles. It is possible to combine such self-massage with the use of therapeutic massage and warming-cooling gels and creams that are useful for joint arthrosis - for example, the gel "Horsepower" or the therapeutic cream-balm of V. Dikul, or any other.

Well, now - actually the complexes of exercises for the treatment of deforming osteoarthritis of the knee joints.

Exercises for arthrosis of the knee

Exercise 1-a

Performed lying on the abdomen on the floor. Legs are straightened, hands are stretched along the trunk. Very slowly lift the right foot straightened to the knee joint to a height of 15 cm from the floor, then hold it for 30-40 seconds at a specified height. After this, also very slowly lower the leg, and then completely relax the entire body.

Then make a small, very short, break, and repeat the same exercise, but with the left foot.

This exercise is performed only once with each leg.

In the same initial position, gently lift the right leg straightened at the knee and lift it to the same height and there hold for 1-2 seconds, then gently lower it to the floor. Perform 10-20 such movements, then repeat the same with the left foot.

Note that between each movement, you need to give your foot a short rest with complete relaxation of the muscles for one or two seconds.

Addition: make sure that both legs work the same way - they were raised to the same height and hung in the air at the same time - regardless of which leg is affected by arthrosis.

Lie on the floor on your stomach and stretch your arms along the trunk. The left leg should be straightened and just lying on the floor. The right leg should be bent at the right angle. This is the starting position.

Gently and very slowly lift the right leg in the thigh( keeping the right angle in the knee joint) to a height of 10 centimeters from the floor, then put it on the weight for 30-40 seconds.

After this, in the same way slowly lower the foot completely and completely relax the muscles. After a short break, do the same with the left foot. In total it is necessary to do this exercise once on each side.

You need to do the same as the 2-a, exercise, but not in a static, but in a dynamic form. Right leg bent at right angles, lift 10 cm from the floor and hang in this state for 1-2 seconds, then smoothly lower your leg.

Repeat this procedure 10-12 times, alternating them with complete relaxation of the leg muscles, then repeat the same complex with the left foot.

Please note!

For therapeutic exercises with joint arthrosis, it is useful to combine it with magnetotherapy -

( do not forget to consult a doctor!)

Exercise 3

This exercise is suitable only for sufficiently hardy and physically developed patients. If it's hard for you to do it, you can skip it.

The starting position - lying on the floor with straight legs, arms stretched along the trunk. Raise( slowly) straightened legs in the knees to a height of 10-15 cm, then just slowly spread your legs to the sides, and then slowly and smoothly bring them back to each other.

Then, without lowering your legs to the floor, again dilute them, and then just bring them together. Perform eight to ten such dilutions and leg information( in slow mode).

No. 4

Lie on the floor on the right side and bend the right leg in the knee. This is the starting position for the exercise. After taking this pose, raise your left foot and hold it in weight for 25-30 seconds, keeping your foot at an angle of 45 degrees. Why very slowly lower the leg and completely relax the muscles of the body. After a short break, turn over to the left side and repeat the same procedure, but for the other leg.

Note that in this exercise, both legs should work with the same load - to rise at the same angle and hang in the air for the same amount of time.

No. 5

The starting position is sitting on a chair. Slowly straighten the leg first at the knee joint, and then lift the leg even higher, using the hip joint. Try to raise your leg as high as it will, and then freeze in this position for thirty to sixty seconds.

After this, in the same way, slowly, start lowering the leg - first in the thigh, and then in the knee, to the starting position. After this, completely relax the muscles of the legs and begin to perform a similar exercise for the left leg. In total, this exercise should be done two or three times on each side.

No. 6

The starting position is in front of the back of the chair. Slightly touching this back of the chair( only to not lose balance), slowly rise on the tiptoes and stay in this position for about 1 minute. After this, smoothly, slowly, return to the starting position.

This exercise is also performed in two versions. For static exercises, you only need to do it once. The dynamic version looks like this: sticking to the back of the chair, gently rise on the tiptoe, stay at this height for 1-2 seconds, then just as smoothly and slowly fall back to the starting position. Do 10-15 such movements.

No. 7

The starting position is the same as in exercise # 6.Holding on to the back of the chair and standing on the heels, maximally lift up the front of the foot and toes. Freeze in this position also for 60 seconds. After the end of this time, very slowly lower your socks down and return to the starting position.

Then you need to do the same exercise, but in the dynamic version: raise the socks and lock in this position for one or two seconds, then smoothly lower them and stand on the whole leg as a whole, returning to its original position.

After a short, one-two-second break, it is necessary to repeat this exercise. In total, it is necessary to perform 10-15 such approaches.

No. 8

The initial exercise is the same as in exercises 6 and 7. Slightly adhering to the back of the chair, lift the heel of your left leg as high as possible, while leaning on the toe of your left leg. At this time, the right foot completely stands on the floor.

After this, it is necessary to reverse the situation very smoothly - as if to roll so that now the right heel was raised, and the left foot completely stood on the floor. After you have done this, raise the left heel up again, and lower the right heel. So, shift from one foot to the other for one minute.

Ex. No. 9 see after the video.

And here is a useful video:

№ 9

This is the final exercise, during which you must self-massage the muscles of the thigh. For this, it is necessary to properly massage the anterior and lateral surface of the thigh above the knee. Pay attention: do not massage the back of the thigh!

To hold this self-massage, place both palms just above the knee and start vigorously rubbing the foot surface in front and side, gradually moving upwards.

Massage should take about 4 minutes. Of these, three minutes to spend on the actual grinding of these areas of the hip. The indicator that this is done correctly is a stable and pleasant feeling of warmth. Do not bring to painful sensations or burning in the thigh.

The final minute of the massage is spent on soft stroking movements on the thigh from the bottom up.

To get a stronger and more stable heat effect during the massage, you can use various warming ointments, balms and gels, for example, cream "Ballet" or ointment "Nikofleks".

Gymnastics for arthrosis of the knee joint

Gymnastics for arthrosis of the knee joint

One of the most common joint diseases in the world is arthrosis. At the age of 45, they suffer up to 15% of the population, at the age of sixty-one, every third person suffers from this disease, and at the age of seventy - every second person. Of course, there are exceptions, such as, for example, herbs, which can become a provoking factor in the development of arthrosis at a young age.

Osteoarthritis is one of many diseases that inevitably overtake the age-related population.

Clinical features of the disease

Pain in the joints are manifested during movement, and at rest, almost do not bother. As a rule, analgesics are ineffective. The best help is with various warming ointments, compresses and dirt. Blood tests, usually, do not give any visible changes. It is possible to detect the disease using X-rays or MRI.

Osteoarthritis is characterized by a dystrophic lesion of the cartilaginous tissue of the joint. With age or as a result of trauma, the amount of fluid in the core of the intervertebral discs decreases, which reduces the elasticity and mobility of the joints. The most common arthrosis worries knee and hip joints. Often one can find arthrosis of the big toe on the foot. A patient with arthrosis often has a knee pain during walking, squats.

Effective treatment of arthrosis

The approach to treatment of this joint disease should be comprehensive. First of all, you need to contact the clinic at the first manifestations of the disease. Remember that only a doctor can conduct the correct diagnosis and prescribe adequate treatment.

Damage to arthrosis

Many symptoms of arthrosis are similar to those of other joint diseases, but the reasons for their occurrence and treatment are very different. Therefore, self-medication can not only be useless, but also have a negative impact on the course of the disease.

Only a doctor can prescribe a set of measures from medical treatment, physiotherapy, diet and exercise therapy, which can stop the further development of arthrosis. Since the treatment is most effective in the early stages of the disease, it is advisable to consult a doctor at the first symptoms of knee disease.

Importance of physical activity in arthrosis

One of the auxiliaries for the treatment of arthrosis is therapeutic gymnastics. One of its main principles is "do no harm"!Depending on the stage of the disease, a set of exercises is formed. In the early stages of the disease, vigorous movements are an excellent tool for improving mobility in the joint, increasing blood flow.

If the joint has already begun to deteriorate, vigorous exercise can only worsen the patient's condition. Therefore, before, to start the implementation of the complex for the treatment of arthrosis of the knee joint, it is necessary to consult a competent specialist.

Complex LFK should be selected only by a qualified specialist

The trainer for physical therapy selects an individual complex of exercises that can help you and do no harm to your joints. For an acute period of the course of the disease, exercises aimed at improving lymph flow, blood supply to the joint, relaxing the muscles around it and reducing pain are selected.

In the remission phase, the emphasis is on strengthening the musculoskeletal joint apparatus and restoring its functions.

Rules for performing exercise therapy

Gymnastics for arthrosis of the knee joint is based on three principles - caution, regularity and gradualness. All exercises should be performed either sitting or lying down. No vigorous exercise "through pain" should not be in the complex. The load increases gradually, as does the amplitude of the movements.

The load and the amplitude of execution of the controls should be increased gradually

The duration of the exercises should be a few seconds, but you need to repeat them several times a day. One of the main principles of performing any treatment complex is the regularity of its implementation. Lesson from time to time not only does not bring results, but they can give the opposite effect, causing an exacerbation of the disease.

Exercises for knee joint

All exercises for curative effects do not tolerate sudden movements, are performed smoothly and unhurriedly:

  • Lying on the back with straight legs, stretched out with heels, without stretching socks. This exercise well relieves tension in the muscles, and also improves the metabolic processes in the knee joint;
  • Lying on your back, stretch your arms along the trunk. Raise alternately straight legs 15 cm from the floor. Back and waist tightly pressed to the floor;
  • Lying on the back, hands along the trunk. To lift in turn a knee bent at the knee to the stomach;
  • Exercise "bicycle";
  • Lying on the back perform swings with straight legs at a height of 20 cm from the floor in the horizontal plane;
  • Lying on the side, the upper leg lifts to a small height. The lower leg, while bent at the knee. Perform on different sides;
  • Lying on the stomach, hands along the trunk. Perform alternate bending of the legs in the knees;
  • Lying on the stomach, hands along the trunk. To make ascents by a straight leg on height of 15-20 sm from a floor, a sock "on itself".In this exercise, it is important that the pelvis and chest are tightly pressed to the floor, and the lifting is made due to the tension of the muscles of the thighs;
  • Sitting on a chair perform relaxed rocking with his foot, bending and unbending the knee joint.

LFK for knee joint

Static exercises for knee joint

These exercises are performed several times with an interval of ten seconds:

  • Sitting on a chair to lift a leg, straightening it in the knee joint and hold it for up to 30 seconds. Then do the exercise with the other leg;
  • Standing at the back of a chair, climb to "socks" and stand up to 60 seconds. Having done this exercise several times, you can repeat it in a dynamic version;
  • Standing at the back of the chair, lean on the "heels" and hold out for up to 60 seconds. This exercise is recommended to be carried out in a dynamic variant, that is, to change positions more quickly;
  • Standing at the back of the chair, perform smooth transitions from "heel" to "sock", as if wave smooth movements, causing the blood to rise more actively to the knee joint.

self-massage After performing a therapeutic complex of exercises, it is recommended to perform self-massage of the hips, its front and side surfaces. It is performed within three to five minutes by vigorous rubbing upwards, from the knee to the groin. It should be "warm" and comfortable. No pain is allowed.

LFK with arthrosis of the knee joint

Recommendations of dieticians for patients with arthrosis of knee joints

One of the factors contributing to the development of arthrosis is overweight. Decreased body weight has a beneficial effect on the treatment of arthrosis of the knee joints. However, only a reduction in the patient's weight, can not cure arthrosis.

Rational food is necessarily connected to the complex of medical events. Patients with arthrosis should include in their diet, as much as possible fruits and vegetables. Among the fats should predominate vegetable oils, for example, olive, sesame and butter in small quantities. Of the meat should be given preference to chicken, turkey and veal. Any fish is recommended, but not fried.

Special attention should be paid to lactic acid products, especially cottage cheese and natural yoghurt. Of cereals, buckwheat fits best. Bakery products can only be eaten with whole grains.
Much attention is paid to the complex of vitamins, which must be consumed by everyone suffering from arthrosis. In addition to chondroprotectors, it is necessary to use a complex of B vitamins. All this can be picked up by the attending physician, in accordance with your stage of the disease, your physical condition and preferences.
